The Marpac 7-0494 is a kill switch with a lanyard designed to cut engine ignition instantly when the operator leaves the helm. It's a simple, reliable safety device that works on most outboard and inboard engines, and it's the kind of thing you hope you never need but will be very glad you have if you do.
The lanyard clips to the operator and attaches to the kill switch at the helm. If you fall overboard or move away from the controls, the lanyard pulls free and cuts the ignition, stopping the engine immediately. That's the whole job, and the 7-0494 does it without any fuss.
Construction is corrosion-resistant throughout, with stainless steel crimps that hold up in the marine environment without rusting or weakening over time. The swivel snap hook on the lanyard end keeps things tangle-free, which matters when you're clipping in and out repeatedly over a day on the water. Installation is straightforward on most helm setups, and the switch is compatible with a wide range of outboard and inboard engine ignition systems.
