The EMP 612110 is a rear of the manifold plate cap with a coolant barb for 3.0L/181ci Mercruiser-style log exhaust manifolds. The end plate seals the rear of the exhaust manifold and provides a barbed fitting for the coolant hose connection that routes water through the manifold for water-cooled exhaust systems. It's a small part that does an important job, and a cracked or leaking end plate will let raw water into places it definitely shouldn't be.
This end plate is designed for use with the EMP 600333 manifold and fits Mercruiser 140, 165, 198, 228, 255, 260, and 898 inboard and sterndrive engines equipped with log-style exhaust manifolds. If you're replacing a manifold or servicing the exhaust system on one of these engines, this is the correct rear cap for the 3.0L application.

If your manifold setup routes the coolant connection elsewhere or you're replacing just the plain rear cap, this is the correct part. If you need the barbed version for a coolant hose connection, that's the 612110.
The end plate seals the rear opening of the exhaust manifold, keeping exhaust gases contained and the manifold structurally complete. A cracked or corroded end plate is a common failure point on older manifolds and is worth inspecting any time the exhaust system is apart. Replacing it is straightforward and far less expensive than dealing with a failed manifold.

The exhaust flapper valve sits at the end of the exhaust bellows and prevents water from backing up into the exhaust system when the engine is off or at low RPM. It is a simple but critical part, and a failed or missing flapper can allow water ingestion into the exhaust manifold. The clamp is included, so you have everything needed for a complete swap.
Important Installation Note: When fitting this valve to a 5" exhaust bellows, two 45-degree cuts are required on the bellows end to allow proper seating. No cuts are needed for the 6" application.
