Important Notice: Gas Spring Disposal Do not discard oil-filled Gas Springs!
It is easy to drain this hydraulic oil and recycle it in the same manner as motor oil or transmission fluid.
Follow these instructions to remove the oil:
Gas Springs are under pressure. Work carefully and wear eye protection!
Clamp Gas Spring in a vise.
Screen off the work area to deflect escaping gas and oil splashes. Have a container ready to collect oil.
Use a 1/8" (3mm) drill bit to drill a hole 3/4" (20mm) from the bottom end of the Gas Spring. The hole must be 3/8" (10mm) deep.
Drain oil by pumping the piston rod in and out several times.
Collect and dispose of the oil and Gas Spring according to local disposal and environmental regulations.
