More about this item

WEST SYSTEM 650-8 Fiberglass & Repair

G/flex 650 is a toughened, versatile liquid epoxy engineered for permanent waterproof bonding of dissimilar materials in demanding marine environments. This 2-pack of 4 oz bottles (one resin, one hardener) provides a convenient supply of this specialized epoxy for bonding fiberglass, ceramics, metals, plastics, and even damp or difficult-to-bond woods.

Toughened for Flexibility:

Unlike standard rigid epoxies, G/flex is formulated with a toughened resin system that provides flexibility to absorb stress from expansion, contraction, shock, and vibration without cracking or failing. This makes it ideal for bonding dissimilar materials with different expansion rates or applications subject to movement and stress.

Easy 1:1 Mix Ratio:

G/flex 650 features a simple 1:1 mix ratio by volume, making it easy to measure and mix without complicated calculations or specialized metering equipment. Simply dispense equal amounts of resin and hardener, mix thoroughly, and apply.

Generous Working Time:

G/flex provides a 46-minute pot life and an extended 75-minute open working time at room temperature, giving you plenty of time to position and adjust components. It reaches initial cure in 3-4 hours, workable cure in 7-10 hours, and should be allowed 24 hours before subjecting joints to high loads.

Versatile Bonding Performance:

G/flex excels at bonding materials that are difficult for standard epoxies, including aluminum boats, polyethylene and ABS canoes and kayaks, damp woods, and dissimilar material combinations. It can also be used to wet out and bond fiberglass tapes and fabrics for reinforcement applications.

Customizable System:

G/flex can be modified with WEST SYSTEM fillers and additives for more specific bonding needs. It can also be added to other WEST SYSTEM epoxies to improve their toughness and flexibility, making it a versatile addition to your marine repair toolkit.

Key Benefits:

  • Toughened Formula: Flexible enough to absorb stress and vibration
  • Easy 1:1 Mix Ratio: Simple measuring and mixing
  • Extended Working Time: 75 minutes for careful positioning
  • Bonds Dissimilar Materials: Works on metals, plastics, woods, fiberglass
