The fulcrum link is a small but essential mechanical component in the toilet's pump and valve actuation mechanism. It connects the pump handle to the internal valve or piston assembly, translating the up-and-down motion of the handle into the pumping and valve actuation needed to flush the toilet. When this link breaks, bends, or wears through, the handle loses its mechanical connection to the pump and the toilet stops functioning entirely. Fulcrum links in manual marine toilets take a surprising amount of stress for their size. Every pump stroke puts load on the link, and years of use, saltwater exposure, and the occasional overly enthusiastic flush stroke add up.
