It fits 2-cylinder engines from 35 to 40 horsepower, 3-cylinder engines from 50 to 70 horsepower, and 4-cylinder engines from 40 to 50 horsepower, across model years 1970 to 1980 and 1982 to 1997. The gap in years is not a typo, so verify your model year before ordering. This seal replaces Mercury part numbers 37721001 and 37721, and also crosses with Sierra 18-0539 and GLM 85630. EMP manufactures it to OEM specifications for correct dimensions and material compatibility on the listed applications. If you are servicing one of these engines and the existing seal shows cracking, compression set, or any sign of leakage, replace it during the service rather than waiting for a confirmed failure.
