The Solas 73191005 is a gearcase adapter ring designed specifically for use with Solas Rubex "D" series hub propellers that use a 4-1/4" hub diameter. The adapter ring is the interface component that allows the Rubex interchangeable hub system to seat correctly on the outboard or sterndrive gearcase. Without the correct adapter ring, the hub will not fit the shaft properly and the propeller will not install correctly.
The Rubex hub system is Solas's interchangeable hub design, which allows boaters to swap propeller blades without replacing the entire hub assembly. The gearcase adapter ring is the piece that stays matched to a specific engine's gearcase configuration, while the outer hub and blade assembly can be changed as needed. The thrust washer is one of the smallest parts in a propeller assembly and one of the most important. It sits between the propeller and the gearcase, managing the forward thrust load and protecting the gearcase housing from direct contact with the prop hub. Without it, or with a worn one, you can end up with accelerated wear on the gearcase and an improperly seated propeller.
This Solas HATW thrust washer is designed specifically for Honda outboards in the 8-20 HP range. Small-HP Honda outboards are popular on tenders, inflatables, jon boats, and small fishing boats, and keeping the prop hardware in good shape on these motors is just as important as on larger engines. When you're doing a prop swap or prop service on a compatible Honda, this is the washer that belongs in the assembly.
