CDI Electronics has developed an alternative to the OEM diagnostic software system - introducing M.E.D.S., the Marine Engine Diagnostic Software system from the worlds leading ignition specialist.

This software system is designed to diagnose the Motorola 555 electronic control module found on most 2001 and later Optimax™ and Mercruiser™ engines. The I4 and I6 Verado™ engine can also be monitored by MEDS. Accurately read faults stored in the system, analyze run time history of the engine, and efficiently service your customers using this simple software.

Designed to operate with the Windows™ operating system, MEDS uses less than 1M of memory, which allows you can use a basic laptop computer to power the software package. The extra memory in your computer is ideal for storing the history of each service you perform for your customers. MEDS uses a Copy to Clipboard feature for storing the fault reports and run time history of the engine under test.

With MEDS, you are given an overview of the engine history and faults. Simply install the software, connect the MEDS interface module into the USB port of the laptop, and you are ready to begin testing.Read current faults stored in the ECM, run a self test on the engine hardware, clear fault codes after the service is performed, and run many more detailed test on the engine as you use the software.

Here are just a few of the test features of using MEDS:

Digital Dashboard
A live "Digital Dashboard" view will display the following parameter in real time: Fuel - Oil - Volts - Air Temp - MAP - Throttle - Coolant

System Info
This feature will display the ECM stored data, such as its part number, rev limit, and test parameters necessary to begin troubleshooting.

Auto Self Test
You can perform a series of engine test to verify the condition of the engine. Test injectors, cylinder firing, etc. prior to deep diagnostic testing.
History
This feature will allow you to display the history of the ECM. Read engine faults, read run time history, and much more by viewing this test parameter.

Active Faults
Active faults will be shown by clicking this icon. You can them drill deep into the freeze frame features of the ECM under test.

Special Functions
MEDS has the capability to drill into deeper engine component tests, such as firing the fuel injectors, running the direct injectors, perform cylinder firing sequences, test the knock sensor, and many more -

Cable Info & Options
The interface and cable of MEDS is recorded for registering and updating your system. The cable number is recorded in this feature.

Help
This help feature will detail the specific features of the area under tests. View any help menu from the page you are viewing. If you have a question about the test, simply click on the HELP icon for a the explanation of the function.

Company History

CDI was founded in 1982 by Ray Anders and Joe DeMarco as "Rapair Incorporated".  Rapair was initially engaged in providing repair services for outboard ignitions.  Working first out of a rented garage in Madison, Alabama, the need for Rapair's services grew rapidly.  In 1995, Ray and Joe decided to design, develop and manufacture their own line of replacement ignition components under the brand name of CDI Electronics.  Rapair had learned nearly everything that could go wrong with an electronic ignition, and they incorporated that knowlege into their improved designs.  As a result, CDI Ignitions quickly earned a reputation as a reliable, cost effective alternative for OEM supplied components.  In addition, Rapair's extensive applications knowledge, also learned from years of repair work, supports marine technicians throughout North America.
