The EMP 93-08787 Rewind Spring is a direct-fit replacement for BRP 2-cylinder outboard starters in the 6 to 35 HP range, restoring the spring tension that makes a manual starter work the way it should.
The rewind spring is the coiled steel spring housed inside the starter assembly that retracts the pull cord after each start attempt. It's under constant tension and gets cycled every time the engine is started — over years of use, it fatigues, loses tension, or breaks entirely. When it goes, the pull cord stays limp and the starter is effectively out of commission until the spring is replaced.
