Choosing a fender almost requires a checklist to make sure you are getting the exact one you need. Application is going to over-ride pretty much anything on this list, however. When you look for quality dock lines think strength, flexibility, UV protection for color retention and a quality material to resist against abrasion, oil and mildew. Most are spliceable and come with a loop integrated into the end. You will find dock line sin nylon, MFP and Poly in double braid, three strand, solid or diamond braid and hollow braid (the lightest duty).

Secure your fenders with holders, locks or cleats to make sure you don’t lose your investment and they are there when you need them. Fender covers tough as the fenders they are protecting are available to lengthen the life of your boat fenders.
Fender lines are especially designed for use with your fenders. They come in a variety of colors and usually are ¼ or 3/8 inch x 4-6 feet. Most are a twisted or solid braid and have a small eye at one end.

Mooring Whips are the answer for high wake areas such as docking in the main channel where there is quite a bit of traffic. Shock cords and bungees are used in a variety of ways and come in a variety of materials and sizes. Avaialbe in rubber, stainless steel shock cord and in lengths from 10 feet to 500. Most of units from 10 to 48 feet come with coated hooks on the ends.
Mooring snubbers are designed to increase the life of your dock lines and reduce the stress put on cleats. Usually made of rubber and available in different widths and lengths as well as colors these snubbers can offer protection against the waves and wind that can beat down when docked.
